Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 10, HOZON Auto, the owner of the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) brand NETA, broke ground on its eco intelligent plant in Thailand (referred to as the "Thai Plant"), which will become the startup’s main manufacturing base for right-hand drive electric vehicles and exports to the ASEAN region.
At the same time, HOZON Auto signed an agreement with Thailand's Bangchan General Assembly Co., Ltd. (“BGAC”), under which both sides will jointly build a modern EV assembly base. They will also team up on enhancing staff skill sustainability and creating an EV ecosystem in Thailand.With over 50 years of experience in automobile assembly, BGAC has assembled more than 10 different brands of vehicles, including luxury brands.Located in Khan Na Yao, Bangkok, the Thai Plant is HOZON Auto’s first overseas factory, and also the first plant built by a China NEV startup in Thailand. Composed of three workshops for welding, painting, and assembly, the plant features a designed production capacity of 20,000 vehicles per year and is expected for operation at the end of Jan. 2024."Significantly, the Thailand plant will be a major base for us to produce and export RHD EVs to the ASEAN.
